We all have been there! Packing for a trip whether its visiting family, friends, coast to coast or even heading to Europe for a world win fun! Then once you get there, settled in… you realize Sh*t “I forgot this”! OR “I wish I had” OR “Now I have buy something I already have”… but it’s at home! So, I thought I would share our TGP Mini-Travel Must Haves!
Hand Sanitizer - Organic I think hand sanitizers reek of chemicals and do more harm than good. If you want to go with more of an all-organic brand, its less smelly, healthier and travel well.
Travel Containers A set of travel containers is a cool way to store personal care items, plus easy to refill, small and easy to show gate security when at the airport. Plus, a lot of general stores have travel size products, but most don’t have maybe products you are accustomed too, like me I like my own products.
Medical Kit The new ones on the market look so cool, however don’t go too crazy and take what you may not need, or can get through and if it’s a major issue. We suggest you build your own (band-aids, ibuprofen, antihistamines, etc.). Also- get familiar with the locations of medical facilities where you’ll be.
Lavender/Cedar Oil These essential oils NOT be in the medical kit, however, small bottles of lavender & cedar oil are superstars – they soothes stress, relieve headaches, and are stellar anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral- as well as keeps those pesky insects (bees, mosquitoes, flies) away. Use Lavender on cuts, scrapes, burns and dry skin. Use Cedar on ankles, wrist, and necks, to repel insects. Here’s a cool little sampler if you want more oils.
Travel Wallet/Daypack One travel wallet or bag is all you need, carries the essentials, lightweight and if you invest in a good one it could be the only thing you need the whole trip. Here’s another jewel- hide extra money in a lip balm container! Chances are if you do get robbed- they won’t take that!
Cashmere Socks Whether you are walking on pavement or hiking mountains, foot comfort is huge, while abroad. Cashmere socks cost a pretty penny but make a superb investment. You’ll only need 2 pairs for your whole trip!
Comfortable Shoes Walking will be your main transportation, so be sure to have at least two good pair of shoes, I am not going to tell what kind, because everyone has opinion on what is the best! You want to be sure there is at least one that’s waterproof. If you’re looking for something that does double duty- check out Reef’s Stash Sandals! Not only are they awesome sandals- they have a hidden compartment in the heel for your treasures!
Travel Waterproof Jacket A travel-specific waterproof jacket with ample pockets is a smart purchase. A comfortable, light weight jacket with room for all your vitals frees up the need for extra bags to carry
Locks – Another MUST One I have incorporated into my travel, have a lock to lock-up bags securely with a strong, easy to store retractable lock and relax at hostels and dodgy bus terminals. Bringing your laptop? Don’t worry- you can lock that too!
Mobile Devices The best gadgets save space, with your mobile devices; you can keep the novels at home and store them, movies, maps, and information on one skinny screen. Taking your cell? Of course you are! If you’re concerned that you may not be able to plug in when needed, consider an backup charger.
Translator App Going to another country and not fluent in their language? Get a translator app (for iPhone or Android). It can help you when you most need it- or at the very least make your trip a lot easier and more enjoyable! Plus- they’re free!
Noise Reduction Ear Buds Noise canceling buds will let you escape the noise of planes (and the people on them), allowing you to concentrate, listen to great music, OR get some rest. Here are some headphone options if you prefer those over the buds :)
Flash drive These days, storing important documents, images, music, videos and other files are very important with technologies there are small flash drives that carry a ton of memory! Easy to carry, store, etc.
Travel Adaptor with USB Port Capability More and more as you travel, especially Europe has different times out “power outlets” with capabilities for both electronic devices. Want something universal? Check out this all in one adapter!
Flexible Tripod A tripod is one item that we may not think we need, but I wish I did have one on several trips. Flexible tripods pack easily and there are so many to choose from! Although, make sure to pick one that you can use with your mobile devices!
UV water purifier Turn almost any tap or natural water source into potable water in seconds and its safe.
Multi-tool – A MUST! A sturdy and portable multi-purpose utility tool is a common sense, but most forget at home. Pack it in your suitcase and not on your carry-on, security will take it!
Gifts Bringing back something for someone you love? If you want to bring wine back- pick up some wine skin and save yourself on the shipping cost!
